The Jackson Generals – the Southern League’s Double A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks – open the 2017 season with a preseason game against the Jackson State Community College Generals at 6:05 p.m. TODAY at the Ballpark at Jackson.Tickets are $5, and all proceeds go to the Generals Care Foundation.

Wednesday – Meet the Team – The second annual event will be held at 6 p.m., at Englewood Baptist Church. The public is welcome to meet the 2017 squad, and there will be ample opportunities for kids to get photographs and autographs.
Additionally, Sarge the mascot will be in attendance and kids will have the chance to win tickets to see a game along with baseball memorabilia.
Englewood Baptist Church is located at 2339 N. Highland Ave. in Jackson. The event will be held in the sanctuary. For more information, visit ebcjackson.org.

Thursday, April 6 – OPENING NIGHT/Thrifty Thursday
It’s Opening Night in Minor League Baseball. The Generals unveil their 2016 Southern League Championship banner before their 6:05 game against visiting Birmingham.
It’s also a Thrifty Thursday! General admission tickets, hot dogs, popcorn, 24-ounce soda, 16-ounce beer, ice cream and Fun Zone wristbands are $2. Fans can upgrade to reserved seats for $6.

Friday, April 7 – Food Truck Friday/Hub City Hippos
Two new promotions every Friday when the Generals play a home game.
Local food trucks will be inside the Ballpark at Jackson courtesy of Leaders Credit Union.
Also, the team will be recognized as the Hub City Hippos and will wear special Hippo jerseys and hats at every Friday home game in 2017. At seasons end, the game-worn jerseys will be signed and auctioned off with proceeds going to the Boys & Girls Club of Jackson thanks to Tennessee811.

Saturday, April 8 – Fireworks
Saturday night features the first of 13 fireworks shows this season, following the 6:05 p.m. game between Jackson and Birmingham.

Monday, April 10 – Education Day
It’s the first Education Day of the season. Students attending with their class receive free admission and an educational program before the 11:05 a.m., game.
Lunch packs with a hot dog, chips, a cookie and a drink will be available to purchase for just $6.
