BROWNSVILLE, Tenn.—A ten-year old girl was one of two people killed in a car wreck Thursday morning on Highway 70 East, just east of Brownsville.

Maykayla King, 10, and Chiquita King, 32, died at the scene according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol. Lilly King, 2, was also in the car but survived the crash. The highway patrol’s report does not include the extent of injuries or condition of the toddler.

According to the trooper’s report, the car driven by Chiquita King was travelling west on Highway 70 East near Chestnut Grove Road in Haywood County. The trooper writes that the car slowed, …” without indication or signals…” Travelling behind the car was a truck loaded with gravel that braked “heavily” and steered left to avoid the collision. The truck overturned on top of the car.
