BROWNSVILLE, Tenn.—Chairman of the Historic Zoning Commission, Joe Barden IV, had his work cut out for him this week. During Tuesday’s Board of City Mayor and Aldermen meeting, he asked city leaders to rescind a vote delaying the expansion of an historic district to include select properties along Key Corner Street and N. McLemore Avenue. Thursday, Barden and the Historic Zoning Board were back at work on the project that has been ongoing since last December.
During Thursday’s meeting several parcels were eliminated but new tracts were added. Properties on Pecan Street were additions while parcels located on the corner of West College and North Wilson Streets were deleted from the expansion.
The Commission sent their recommendations to the Brownville Planning Board for consideration.
The Historic Zone Commission approved the design for the amphitheater bathroom construction. The facility is will be located near the paved alley next to Las Palmas restaurant.
